The Issue
While these procedures are illegal in Europe, they still persist in every state in America. Every year, more than a million American pets are subjected to non-therapeutic invasive procedures such as toe reduction (declawing), tail amputation (docking), ear cutting (cropping), and more. These normalized cruelties not only cause physical pain but also negatively impact the pets’ emotional well-being and long-term health. Yet, we walk down the street every day and the number of docked tails does not even register. Declawed cats that have had their bones and tendons removed are commonplace. They are simply part of “what is.” As animal lovers, it's our responsibility to speak up and help their cries be heard.

What is the Pet Positive Membership?
Millions of pets are subjected to optional invasive procedures each year. Too often procedures such as ear cropping, tail docking, declawing, and more go unnoticed - and have simply become a part of "what is." As a NPAWS Pet Positive member, you are joining a community of passionate humans who share a common goal: to improve the lives of pets and create a more compassionate country.
If I join in 2023 or 2024, will I be a Founding Member of the Pet Positive Movement？
Yes. Pet Positive Membership has been launched in 2023. So, all members joining by December 31, 2024 become proud Founding Members of the Pet Positive Movement.
How much is the individual membership?
To become a member of the Pet Positive Movement, donate $16 or more annually.
What are the benefits of individual membership?
Members receive an exclusive NPAWS membership card (shipping January 2024), a 10% discount in the NPAWS online store on exciting Pet Positive and NPAWS merchandise, and most importantly, the opportunity to shape our initiatives. Together, we will raise awareness, educate the public, and affect meaningful change in society, and save the lives and limbs of millions of cats and dogs.

How long does the NPAWS individual membership last?
As a Founding Member, all 2023 and 2024 paid memberships will stay in effect until December 2024. Following that, individual memberships can be renewed annually. The best way to ensure that your membership stays in force is to sign up for a repeating payment.

Individual membership cards will be shipped in January 2024.
